2023 has just arrived…and wow!

The first weekend of 2023 started off nice and early at 1pm Friday, when I had the chance to redeem my prize from Rhonda Phillips’s “Late Night Secrets” Holiday party- a 1 hour zoom call with British Voice Actor Ian Russell. We connected and chatted for an hour and half about voiceover as a career, and he shared tips on running the business side of voiceover, as well as some great insights about character development and auditioning. It was such a wonderful and thoughtful conversation. I’m grateful that the voiceover community is so supportive and giving.

On Saturday, I went to a great networking and pitch opportunity in San Jose put on by Movie Making Throughout the Bay! Inc. (MMTB). I found their organization online a few years ago, but this was my first time attending one of their events, and my first time pitching myself as a voice actor! It felt amazing to get up (I didn’t originally plan to) and pitch my services as an actor to a group of about 20 other actors, producers, writers and investors! It felt solidifying as an actor to do! I’ve been in the industry about 2 years now and I’m loving every fulfilling moment, big and small.

I’m also looking forward to chatting with MediaNEXT’s Dubbing Academy Dean Jacques Barreau on Thursday, January 19 at 8AM PST on Instagram LIVE! I’m an alumni of their program and was invited to be the first guest on their new Instagram Live series chatting with actors. I’m very honored to be asked to chat with him and hope you can tune in! We’ll discuss aspects of my work as a voice actor and how their Dubbing program works. It really helped me understand dubbing and now I’m prepared for how it is done technically with voice actors!

Last week, I got on my 4th talent agent roster! MCVO, located in the Boston area, is going to rep me. This will be a great addition to aid me in obtaining more auditions for bigger projects! Bring it on!

I’m feeling so optimistic about my path right now and love watching each snow ball pick up more snow as it rolls down the hill, building atop itself! Things are happening. Hoping your 2023 is looking just as bright! My goals are to record a promo and radio imaging demo, record a spot for a major brand and production house and attend a VO conference among many other things.
