May is upon us

Can you believe it’s almost May? The year just seems to be flying by.

Since I last blogged, I finished up the last two Weekly Workouts that are run by Victoria Atkin and friends. I was nervous about the PCap audition, but it turned out to be really fun! I got the lines down and got some great feedback from Gareth Taylor who was leading the class. He mentioned it’s good to keep in mind how you use the space around you in PCap and to really get into it imaging all your senses. I am looking forward to my next go at PCap! It was fun to set up my Nikon to film as well. Head to my Instagram for a BTS shot of me in action!

The final class was on April 9th, and was about Mindset and Marketing with Elise Berggreen. It was after a week in which I was a tad down, and her enthusiasm and encouragement really helped me mentally. She spoke about being proactive in our careers and networking with fellow artists. And to keep our heads up!

On April 14th, SOVAS (Society of Voice Arts and Sciences) hosted an amazing panel (300 entertainment professionals on the Zoom call!!) with legendary voice actor Nancy Cartwright. She’s known for being the voice of Bart Simpson and Chuckie on Rugrats, among MANY others. It was a fun hour listening to her wins and struggles and a moment about meeting a fan that brought us all to tears. The hour ended with everyone on the call doing a dance-off! It was amazing to see everyone smiling and having a great time. I truly love the VO community!

Last week, I hopped in a Clubhouse “Working Voice Actor” room and they were doing a fun session where anyone who wanted could answer a random question on the spot and talk for one minute, and the room would chime in on what qualities our voice sounds like to them. When my turn came around, I got asked what my favorite musical was. I talked about my love for Phantom of the Opera and after, responses from fellow actors came in describing how THEY hear my voice. I got youthful, fun, kind, confident, energetic, engaging and approachable among many others! It was a great way to understand how my voice sounds to others in my field! It was a fun room and I got to connect with some new artists.

I’m finding all sorts of joy in the auditions coming my way and new possible clients I’ve been corresponding with. As always, head to my socials to see some fun practice and BTS of my work!

Take care and have a great day!
